Heimwee

Laat ze nooit je tranen zien.
Zo zei mijn moeder, daarom ben ik zo bezorgd.
Weglopen tijdens het drogen van mijn ogen,
ik ben een dwaas met benen,
lichtgevend, net als de oppervlakte van een rots.
De leraar neemt het licht uit mijn lege handen,
kinderen fluisteren.

Achter de armen van een zeester
spelen ze in de warme en zonnige tuin.
Maar ik blijf hier, zoals mijn moeder zei.
Onder het raam staat een aquarium.
Goudvissen zwemmen heen en weer.
Hun eigen weerspiegeling volgend,
zo zwemmen ze rond.

Met een vinger raak ik het water, dan nog een.
Ze reflecteren, fonkelend en in beweging.
Mijn ogen drogen.
Het water overspoelt mijn lichaam
mijn oogleden smelten samen met mijn ogen
ik adem, en adem, en adem.

Translated from the original poem, "Homesick", by Salli Shepherd (salshep).

This translation is part of the Translationchain project (*TranslationChain). Ha, I'm the first to translate the poem to dutch. :dance:
This was fun to do, and it's even more fun to see how this poem has already changed much during the translations already made, and it will change even more! I'm looking forward to the final translation..

yeah, i tried to translate it as good as possible, of course a few changes where the dutch wouldn't have fitted if directly translated. :nod:
